The Collected Plays, Volume Two by Scot Lahaie

THE COLLECTED PLAYS, VOLUME TWO

Six Full-Length Plays & Two Short Plays

The Collected Plays, Volume Two brings together six full-length plays and two short plays by American playwright Scot Lahaie, ranging from historical drama to musical comedy.

Mysterium retells the trial and burning of Thomas Cranmer, the first Protestant Archbishop of the Anglican Church. Purgatorium follows two strangers who wake in a maximum-security holding cell with no memory of how they got there. In Mary, Mother of God, a police psychiatrist strives to identify a vagrant woman who believes she is the Virgin Mary. The Cattleman’s Suite is a traditional comedy that pokes fun at the rich and well-to-do in the great state of Texas.

Martyr is a new translation of Corneille’s neoclassical tragedy Polyeucte. LEAR ReLoaded deconstructs Shakespeare’s King Lear, moving past the psychological to reveal a spiritual landscape driven by blessing and cursing. The short play Six Soldier Junction looks at the atrocity of war through the eyes of soldiers on the ground during Operation Desert Storm. In The Old Man and His Will, an aging tycoon summons those closest to him to divide his fortune — and despairs when no one appears.
